Is Cheerleading a Sport ?

Cheerleading is dangerous

Cheerleading is dangerous because people get thrown about 12 feet in the air. While stunting the cheerleaders on the ground have to make sure they protect the flyer because if she or he falls they can get severely hurt.

For example, my cheer coach was coaching another team and she had an incident where one of the stunt groups dropped the flyer and the flyer broke her collar bone. Cheerleading is fun, it can help you build better communication skills and teamwork.

Common injuries

Most cheerleaders experience one or more injuries. The cause of the injuries come from lifting people in stunts, and doing flips. Common injuries that me and my teammates faced were mainly ankle sprains and nose bleeds.

During a stunt my flyer fell on my nose, I was glad it was not broken. At competitions most teams always say a prayer before performing because anything can happen anyone an get hurt if something in the routine goes wrong.

Cheerleading is a sport

In high school football players would tease the cheerleading team saying cheerleading isn't a sport. We argued everyday about how cheerleading is a sport.

Cheerleaders deserve more respect than what is given to them because stunting and doing flips takes a lot of training, and technique that everyone can not do. Cheerleaders are athletes just as football players, baseball players, and basket ball players. Cheerleaders compete in competitions as well as cheer for the football players and the basketball teams.
